The Judicial Center in Newton County will have a new name displayed on the building.
The county commissioners are making the naming rights to the facility available to the public. People will be able to meet with the commissioners to explain their interest in naming the building, and the new title will be placed above the front entrance. The commissioners are hoping to honor families that have had a long history in the community.
“It’s getting more and more popular for justice centers, courtrooms, court buildings to allow families, basically, who have been connected with the building or the community for a long period of time to have the opportunity to put their family name on something that could be for years and years and years to come,” says Marilyn Ruestman, Newton Co. Commissioner.
Ruestman says once the building is named, there will be opportunities for individual courtrooms inside the judicial center to be named as well.
