BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) —  You have probably heard the country hip-hop hit “Old Town Road” by rapper Lil Nas X, or at least some variation of it.

There are a lot of different remixes out there, but have you seen this one? Ms. Jasmine Merlette’s third grade class at Sun Valley Elementary in Birmingham has gone viral with their version of “Old Town Road.”

She used the video to get the students excited about solving math problems. Merlette says she got the idea after one of her students told her they were nervous about testing.

This adorable remix has obviously gone viral with Lil Nas X himself weighing in on it on twitter.

And in addition to going viral, the students did well on their big test.

As far as if Merlette will continue to use music as a way to teach her students, she said she definitely well.
