Today, employees held an opening for the new nature trail.
The day featured singing, a ribbon cutting, and a variety of guest speakers.
The trail is about two miles long, including signs of the birds or animals you may come see along the trail.
It is pet friendly and most of it is accessible by wheelchair.
The trailhead of the site is a historic log cabin featuring maps of the paths.
“Portions of it go along Grand Lake and there aren’t too many places where you can walk right beside Grand Lake. Most of the property along Grand Lake is private. Another piece that makes it unique is you can walk through the woods and walk on paved pathways and your not having to avoid cars and the fumes from cars and all of that.” said Amelia Chambelain, Executive Director Har-ber Village Museum
Chamberlain says the museum is applying for a grant to expand the trails beyond the two miles.
