Downtown Joplin has a new mural to add to the growing list of public artwork.
The wall of Columbian Apartments now sports a giant peace sign surrounded by flowers with the emblem for Route 66. It’s sponsored by footwear manufacturer Toms’ Shoes and is part of a national awareness campaign with the slogan “End Gun Violence Together.”
The Tom’s initiative aims to implement universal background checks for gun purchases.
