New moms now have a safe and private place to nurse on Missouri Southern’s campus.

MSSU’s Spiva Library will soon have a Lactation Room for faculty and staff.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services awarded the university a five hundred dollar grant for furniture and appliances for the room.
Several new moms currently use teacher’s offices or their own cars to nurse, so many are now relieved they have an isolated place to go.

“I think it’s great. We’ve heard a lot of positive feedback both from faculty and staff wishing they had something like that when they were nursing, but also with concern about their students.” says Andrea Cullers, Dept. of Kinesiology Assoc. Professor

The Lactation Room will be open next week for students and staff.
Anyone who needs to use the room can check it out at the circulation desk with their MSSU I.D.
