During the meeting, council swore in Gary Heilbrun as the city’s new mayor. Heilbrun previously served as Duquesne’s Mayor pro-tem. During that time, he would lead meetings if the mayor would be absent, so he says this isn’t too big of a change for him.
He says he has some plans for the future of the town, but he’s not prepared to talk about them just yet. But, he is excited to see what kind of work the board can accomplish.
“I’m really enthused,” explained new mayor Gary Heilbrun. “We have really good people on the council and have really been able to take care of a lot of business.”
One piece of business the board will have to address later this week, appointing someone to a vacant alderperson position.
