New display at Joplin Public Library brings awareness to human trafficking

A new display at the Joplin Public Library is designed to bring awareness to the problem of human trafficking.

The name of the exhibit is “Welcome to the Game: Human Trafficking in America” and is the work of Neosho artist Sarah Serio. It’s located inside the Bramlage and Wilcoxon Foundation Gallery. The display is comprised of 12 reduction block prints.

“It says in her statement that it’s often overlooked especially here in America because it happens here in our backyards and when people think about it they tend to think about it as something that happens elsewhere,” says Jill Sullivan, Post Art Library Director.

The display will remain in the gallery through the month of March. If you’d like to meet the artist herself, there will be a reception for her at the Joplin Public Library at 1901 East 20th Street on Thursday, February 21st, from 6 to 7:30 pm.
