New businesses in Frontenac won’t have to worry about utilities

News

A local town is giving new businesses a financial incentive to come to their community.

Beginning next Monday, new businesses moving to Frontenac won’t have to worry about paying their utility bill for an entire year. Frontenac city administrator Brad Reams says new employers can locate their businesses anywhere inside the city limits to qualify for the program, including the city’s industrial park.

“They get a utility abatement for city water and sewer services for a year, they have to agree to stay a year beyond the abatement, they cannot be someone within the community already, it has to be a new business coming in,” says Brad Reams.

Reams says the city is trying out the program on a yearly basis and will revisit the abatement issue again in a year from now to gauge its success.
