Nevada FFA gets to know other chapters for National FFA Week

One Future Farmers of America chapter is honoring National FFA week by getting to know others from different local chapters.

Monday night was one of Nevada FFA’s first event for National FFA Week.

“So we have a lot of different community activities where our members are able to give back for, ya know, that’s giving a lot to them and allowed us to do activities like the one we’re doing this evening,” says Josh Mareth, Nevada FFA Advisor.

To help kickoff their week of events the Nevada FFA chapter decided to have a night out bowling, but they weren’t the only chapter in the county there.

“That’s what we voted on as a local chapter. Just invite the other three chapters. That’s Bronough, Sheldon, and Northeast,” says Braden Ast, Nevada FFA Vice President.

Some of the students from the other chapters are excited to see some new faces.

“I think it’s an important part of FFA is meeting other people and getting the exposure and meeting everyone. And we get to see new faces. We see each other everyday in school, but getting out here to see other people doing the same thing and enjoying the same things we do is important,” says Aaron Gaines, Northeast FFA Chapter President.

“We’re all excited and ready to go. We had a list full of people who wanted to go,” says Kaiden Byram, Sheldon FFA member.

And hopefully some the kids they meet here will not only become possible friends, but maybe business associates later on in life.

“You might work side-by-side or one of those kids might be your future employer. So for me I think that bond early on helps build a connection. It makes more importance to each individual,” says Braden Ast.

“A lot of these students who want to be involved in agriculture are gonna stay locally here within vernon county and so the networks they make now are gonna help them set up future career goals down the road,” says Josh Mareth.
