Neosho is seeing an explosion of growth within the housing market.
“The golf course on the western side of town, that’s where all of our growth is,” says John Harrington, Neosho development services manager.
The city of Neosho is seeing expansion in many areas, including the housing market.
“We are permitting homes almost everyday,” says Harrington.
Last year, twice as many homes were permitted in Neosho as compared to previous years, and now the city is looking to exceed that number by the growth seen at the beginning of 2018.
“Usually we see permitting 20, 25 homes. Last year, we permitted about double that. Within the first quarter of this year we had seen already permitted about 30 homes,” says Harrington.
“I think we are in the perfect place to see growth in Neosho and the right kind of growth,” says Ben Baker, Neosho mayor.
A lot of reasons can be attributed to the increase in the housing market, but the development of I-49 has been a major factor in the change.
“People are seeing the value of Neosho maybe commuting from here to Northwest Arkansas, from here to Joplin,” says Baker.
“You can hop on I-49 and in 10, 12 minutes you’re in Joplin,” says John Harrington.
Mayor Baker, who also owns a construction company, says the lack of red tape for construction within the city is also a key influence to Neosho’s successful housing growth.
“Because of less regulation and less restrictions on building and those things people are seeing this is a perfect place and a perfect city to build in,” says Baker.
