While it may have been a lazy Sunday for some, hundreds were out in Neosho serving the community.
Today was the 6th annual Neosho Day of Service across the entire city.
It started at Big Spring Park, where volunteers were assigned various jobs that would help the community.
The jobs ranged from painting and weeding flower beds, to scrubbing the city pool, and even helping the elderly with yard work.
After the work was done, everyone was invited to have dinner in the park.
“This community event is a really pure event because there’s nobody’s name on it, it’s literally the local area churches that are doing this. And so I just want to invite any church in our community and in surrounding communities to come be apart,” says Pastor Jeremie Bridges.
The day of service started about 6 years ago and they do on the Sunday closest to 9/11 as a way of remembrance.
