Neosho business works with police to help keep the community safe

NEOSHO, Mo. - Neosho police officers have a new tool to keep you safe, thanks to a local business.

Black Rain Ordinance worked with the Neosho Police Department to equip officers with 27 brand new rifles. Chief David Kennedy says it began last year, when the department was awarded 11 rifles from the State of Missouri. Officers took those rifles to black rain to have them repaired. That's when company President Justin Harvel says they made the decision to work with the department. Between what the department had budgeted to fix the rifles from the state and a donation from Black Rain, Kennedy says now every Neosho police officer will have a duty rifle with them that also accepts the same magazines and ammunition as their sidearms.

"This is important in our back yard and our community to be local and to support locally," says Justin Harvel, President and CEO, Black Rain Ordinance.

"They're lifetime Neosho residents. This is just something that they really wanted to do to help out the community, and it's really appreciated," says Chief David Kennedy, Neosho Police Department.

Harvel says Black Rain now has more than 100 law enforcement agencies they work with nationwide. He says they're hoping to do more work with other agencies in the four states in the future.
