New teachers to the Neosho area are getting a closer look at the town.

The Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce held its 51st annual New Teachers’ Tour. Staff from Crowder College, Neosho School District, and Neosho Christian Schools were invited to come and get a better idea of what the city has to offer. The tour included stops at the Neosho-Newton County Library, the National Fish Hatchery, and the Neosho Freeman Family YMCA.

“I think it’s super important that where you are going to teach at you know the community and you know where things are at, and you are really able to relate to your students a little bit better and to get to know the area is great,” says Nate Christeson, Neosho Jr. High science teacher.

The tour ended with lunch at Crowder and a presentation about teaching in Neosho schools.
