National Wreaths Across America Day

FT. SCOTT, KS -    People across the U.S. are remembering those that have served our country and passed away by placing a wreaths on their headstones.

Fort Scott National Cemetery was one of more than a thousand locations across the country participating in National Wreaths across America Day. After a ceremony to honor those that have served, hundreds of volunteers placed almost six thousand wreaths on every grave in the cemetery. This is the first time that every headstone in the cemetery has a wreath placed on it. For many volunteers this day means a lot to them.

"The motto of Wreaths Across America is remember, honor, teach. There's people out here that have loved ones, there's many veterans that are honoring their friends that were veterans with them." says Wreaths Across America Volunteer Coordinator Kevin Wagner

Each person placing a wreath was also asked to say the name on the headstone to remember the person buried there
