A 65-year-old Mt. Vernon man accused of multiple sexual abuse charges against a resident at an assisted-living facility in Nixa has pleaded guilty to reduced charges of elder abuse and will be on supervised probation for two years.

Online court records show that Marvin Periman accepted a plea agreement on Thursday under which he was sentenced to a year in the Christian County Jail on each of two charges of elder abuse. The judge suspended execution of those terms and placed Periman on supervised probation for two years.

The defendant had been charged to one first-degree count of rape or attempted rape, three first-degree counts of sodomy or attempted sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse-second degree, records show.

He pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of elder abuse, according to the Christian County Circuit Clerk’s office.

Periman had been accused of forcing himself on a woman at the Life Enhancement Village in Nixa and two women had accused him of touching them inappropriately while he was visiting them at the center in 2017, according to a probable cause statement in the case.
