A local university program is giving students an opportunity seek out more professional experience.
Missouri Southern State University’s Career Services Office hosted the first Internship Expo today. This event allows current students and alumni a chance to meet with more than thirty-one businesses and organizations from around the area.
Along with looking at internships, those that attended could also network with different employers and even check out potential part and full-time jobs. While this isn’t the only career event during the year, it does provide students an extra chance at seeking new opportunities.
“What we realized is that throughout the Fall semester there was a gap for a recruitment opportunity. However we wanted that recruitment event to be intentional. So we decided to host an internship expo rather than just a generic career fair, because we wanted to prepare students for that transition from the classroom to their career,” says Alex Gandy, MSSU Career Services Director.
For those that missed out on today’s event, MSSU Career Services will be hosting a networking skills session for students on November first.
