Students at an area university want to make sure that everyone who needs a coat for winter will have one.
The 10th annual MSSU Omicron Delta Kappa One Warm Coat Drive kicks off today. Boxes are set up in most buildings on campus through the end of the month of November. Clean, reusable coats, jackets and other warm clothing will be collected. All sizes are welcome. DOnations will be distributed to those in need by the Joplin Boys and Girls Club and Watered Gardens.
Dr. Michael Garoutte, MSSU Physical Science: “I’ve talked to the places where we’ve donated the coats and one of those places where we’ve donated the coats and one of those places is the Joplin Boys and Girls Club. They said kids come in without warm clothes to wear and they’re able to provide those based on these donations.”
You don’t have to be a student to donate. Off campus drop-off locations include two Southwest Missouri bank locations at 4000 East 7th Street as well as 2530 North Range Line Road. Victory Ministry and Sports Complex, located at 3405 Hammons Boulevard, will also accept donations.
