The Missouri budget has been finalized, and includes an increase of funds for students wanting to go into the health care profession.

More than $300,000 will be given to Crowder College to expand the Nursing program. 159th District State Representative Dirk Deaton spearheaded this additional funding in the House Budget Committee when he saw a demand for more space for the growing number of students wanting to go into health care. The money will be used across several of Crowder’s campuses, including Nevada, McDonald County, and Cassville.

“It gives us the opportunity to begin out lPN program in Nevada to and give it the support its needs. It gives us a change to expand out program at McDonald County, and gives us a change to do some much needed improvements at Cassville,” says Dr. Glenn Coltharp, Crowder College President.

The budget still is awaiting Governor Mike Parson’s signature. He has until the start of the fiscal year on July 1st.
