Monett will soon have a new multi-million dollar hospital in town.
Cox-Health announced plans to build a new $42 million dollar hospital in town. Officials say it will replace the current facility that was built in 1953.
The 70 thousand square foot hospital will sit along Highway 60 on the eastern edge of Monett. It will offer an enhanced emergency department, multiple operating rooms, 40 exam rooms as well as a cardiac rehab facility.
Cox-Health says it’s part of the companies strategic efforts to ensure rural populations have access to the health care they need. President and CEO of Cox-Health, Steve Edwards says “when someone is having a heart attack or a stroke, time is of the essence to ensure optimal recovery… critical access hospitals like Cox Monett are vital to offering that care for patients.”
The new structure is expected to take about two years to complete.
