MO Dept. of Conservation helps fight fires nationwide

Several Missourians from the Department of Conservation are helping fight wildfires across the nation.

Right now, 61 people are helping in the efforts to stop the spread of wildfires. Groups have been sent to Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and most recently California. Their jobs range from helping on the frontlines to assisting at the camps.

"So a lot of our crews are out on the front lines and they're actually putting in lines to stop the spread of the fire, and then we have people in what's called overhead positions and they're helping on the backside at camps and keeping the crews organized,” says Crystal Allen with the Department of Conservation.

The Department of Conservation began these initiatives in late June.
