Missouri voters could decide fate of medical marijuana in 2018

The Southwest Missouri Democrats decide to back a medical marijuana petition.

The petition is being circulated by New Approach Missouri.

It would allow doctors to decide whether or not to provide medical cannabis to patients.

Wednesday night, the group made a presentation at the Southwest Missouri Democrats meeting.

This allowed voters to get more information on the petition.

Group members believe medical marijuana could be a possible solution to the opioid problem in Missouri.

“One of the reasons it’s a big topic is because we have an opioid crisis in Missouri and it’s a very serious problem and our legislators don’t seem to be really doing the things to take care of it that they could be,” explained Krista Stark with the SWMO Democrats.

If enough signatures are gathered, the issue would go on the 2018 Missouri ballot.
