Missouri lawmakers looking to expand texting while driving laws

MISSOURI — Missouri lawmakers will consider expanding the state’s restriction on texting while driving to everyone on the road.

House bill 1290 would drop the age limit, which currently says all drivers 21 and under must not text while driving.

The Missouri Department Of Transportation supports the bill, pointing to a 31% increase in cell phone related crashes in the last five years.

The state legislature will start the new session on January 8th.
