Missouri Department of Conservation offers Apprentice Hunter Program

News

Those interested in trying out hunting, can go out into the field with a experienced mentor this fall.

The Missouri Department of Conservation is offering their Apprentice Hunter Program as a way for those interested in hunting to get an opportunity to try it out with a friend. Those participating must be sixteen years or older and are allowed to hunt using guns without hunter-education certification.

However, those new to hunting must buy the Apprentice Hunter authorization, purchase a firearms hunting permit, and must stick close with a hunter-education certified person over the age of eighteen or older, or who was born before January 1st, 1967. To buy the Apprentice Hunter authorization, the program, or for more information on it, visit the Missouri Department of Conservation’s website.
