Miami students tour fish hatchery for Earth Day

First grade students from Rockdale Elementary school in Miami toured the Neosho National Fish Hatchery for Earth Day.

Students learned about the importance that clean water plays in the ecosystem, and how fish at the hatchery are grown and later placed in streams and rivers.

Brylee Cox, Rockdale Elementary School 1st Grade, says, “We went in there and we went in the tunnel and there’s fishies in there.”

Students say their favorite part of the trip was feeding the fish, which they say go “crazy” when the food hits the water.
