Miami preps for 2019 city council election


The city of Miami is getting ready for the 2019 city council election.

General elections for Ward 1 and 2 in the city are the focus. Council members will be required to attend meetings and will be advocates for the local community. 

The city is encouraging residents to apply prior to the election on April 2nd. To be a member of the council you must be willing to commit to 3 years and must have lived in Miami for at least 2 years. 

The Ottawa County Board of Council is accepting applications between February 4th through the 6th. The terms for those who win their wards will begin on May 1st.
