An area hospital and technical school are joining forces to help people get into the healthcare industry.

Mercy Hospital Carthage and the Carthage Technical Center are teaming up to provide a unique opportunity for people who want to become a clinical medical assistant. The program is especially convenient for people with families and requires a commitment of 2 days a week, 3 hours a day for 16 weeks. Hospital administrator Scott Watson says clinical medical assistants are hard to come by in the area.

“We thought it would be a great combination, we’re really looking for people of all types that might want to enter the program. But really looking for people with a dream but no hope because Mercy is going to fund the first 8 students in the program and it’s going to be a class of eight,” says Scott Watson.
