Mercy Hospital management not recommending medical marijuana treatment

News

JOPLIN, Mo. —

A local hospital is making a recommendation on the issue of medical marijuana.

The management of the Mercy Hospital has determined they are not recommending medical marijuana treatment for their patients.

A statement says there is insufficient medical and scientific research on the benefits and risks of cannabis products as part of medical treatment.

They go on to say the U.S. Food and Drug Administration also hasn’t determined the safety or efficacy of cannabis either.
