Local kids spend their Sunday at school, but instead of hitting the books they’re playing games to help raise money for new playground equiptment.
Meadowlark Elementary held its 8th Annual Fall Carnival today on the school’s lawn.
It’s the elementary school’s annual fundraiser, with this year’s funds going toward expanding the playground, making it handicap accessible, and buying more equipment for students.
For a small price, kids played carnival games like the ring toss and cake walk, and also entered into raffles.
School officials say without the support of student’s families, the fundraiser wouldn’t be possible.
“It’s a partnership. We couldn’t do it without our families and that’s why we’re here. It’s all about kids and families and just learning, playing, having a good time together … It’s just all about that.” says Becky Bedene, Meadowlark Elementary Principal
Organizers are looking forward to the follow up meeting to start planning for next year’s event.
