A Shell Knob man has been nominated to fill the vacant state representative seat once held by Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick.

Scott Cupps, 33, is the Republican nominee to fill the seat. A total of three Republicans were nominated at a meeting of the 158th District Republican Legislative Committee in Cassville Thursday, but Cupps was chosen to represent the party.

Fitzpatrick resigned the seat late last year after being appointed as state treasurer. So far, no other party has officially nominated a candidate for the seat.

Voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, November 5th to determine who will fill the open seat.

This is a special election called for by Governor Mike Parson.
