Man behind bars after late night pursuit in Joplin

A man is behind bars after a late night police pursuit ends with spike strips deployed.

54 year old Timothy Greer, of the Joplin area, is charged with felony resisting arrest by fleeing, driving while suspended, and has seven active warrants out of Jasper, Greene, and Newton counties.

Jasper County Sergeant Christopher Calvin spoke with our Joplin News First team about the incident. He says the pursuit started around 10:30 last night — taking officials into Newton County, then back into Jasper County.

The car Greer was driving was spotted with stolen Kansas plates, that didn’t match the vehicle. The pursuit never exceeded posted speed limits, but around 11:15 officials had to use spike strips to stop the vehicle. It ended around 32nd and Rangeline, where Greer was taken into custody.

Authorities are working to find out who the registered owner of the car is.
