On Sunday morning around 3:47 a.m., Joplin police officers responded to a business alarm at Dollar General on West 7th Street. As they arrived, they found the front door had been broke open.

At the same time, a burglary was in progress at a residence half a block away. The residents had called and reported a male broke into their back door and was sitting on their couch.

Officers responded from the alarm to that residence and arrested John Edward Davis, 48, of Purcell, Mo. Surveillance video from Dollar General showed that Davis was the suspect in that case as well.

Davis was charged with first and second degree burglary with a $25,000 bond.
