Semi vs. semi crash halts traffic for 2.5 hours at Joplin exit 15

(64836) – Just before 2:00 AM two semi tractor-trailers crashed at mile marker sixteen west bound.  

Two people were transported with non life-threatening injuries as traffic was at a standstill till nearly 4:30 AM.

One truck was carrying 46,000 dozen eggs according to radio traffic of Missouri State Highway Patrol.

We heard the other semi was carrying a load of cooking oil? Joplin News First asked a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy.  He told us they thought it was butter at first.

As traffic was stopped at 16 mile marker a secondary crash occurred at 17.8 mile marker. It was two semi tractor-trailers. In that crash one driver suffered serious injuries and was transported via ambulance to an area hospital.
