Mercy Life Line Lands at Sarcoxie Ozarkland, rushing I-44 crash victim to hospital

Local News

Saturday afternoon around 2:00 PM Trooper D. Riley of the Missouri State Highway Patrol states that a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by a 33-year-old man from Sarcoxie was traveling eastbound on I-44 near 29 mile marker.

The car struck the rear end of a semi tractor-trailer. The semi driver was a 54 year old man from Plano, Texas.  The driver of the car was Life Lined by Mercy air ambulance and listed in serious condition.

Nicholas Cope from Sarcoxie caught it on camera for Joplin News First.  He tells us, “We were in town checking on one of our calves.  I have lived in Sarcoxie all my life and have previously served on the fire department.  I noticed the Sarcoxie fire and police gathering together.  I knew most likely it was a crash on I-44.  I knew the spot to be close by in case they needed an extra hand.  I just happened to have my phone and took a couple of clips.  These guys are volunteers and we really appreciate them.”

In the video you can see the helicopter lands right at the Ozarkland parking lot.  To the left the Sarcoxie Police Chief and a Sarcoxie Fire Truck.  They walk the injured man past the Sarcoxie City Limit sign you’ve seen Joplin News First stand at for many of our local stories.
