Male & female abandon stolen vehicle, Joplin Police set perimeter and K9 track, male in custody

Sgt William Davis of the Joplin Police Department confirm with us tonight that an officer spotted the black passenger vehicle, noted it was reported stolen, and possibly connected to a crime committed.

The officer attempted to pull it over, the vehicle fled. After a short pursuit, ending with a male and female abandoning the vehicle in the 3400 bk of South Pearl.

Joplin Police K9 was summoned and perimeter was set in the Oak Ridge area of South Joplin approximately from 3400-3600 bk south then S Oak Ridge, Pearl, Moffet and Sergeant.

After a search and our initial broadcast a tip came in from a neighbor on South Sergeant reporting a suspicious person. Police responded and found a male hiding in a yard. The male was detained. Charges and identity are unknown at this time.

Police are still seeking the female that fled the vehicle.

We will have more information as it becomes available from the Joplin Police Department.
