-See a streetlight out? Put it on the app. Smell something foul? Put in on the app. -Pothole about to destroy your car? Put it on the app. -Remain anonymous if you like. -See feedback and what others are reporting in your neighborhood and how city officials are responding.
(64801) – Tonight at the Joplin City Council meeting public information officer Lynn Onstot introduced everyone to the ‘See Click Fix’ app and website. It is a national website that is now available and tailored to Joplin to get things done on a city level more quickly.
“This tool offers a stream-lined method to contact us about an issue in a neighborhood, along a street or anywhere in our community,” City Manager Sam Anselm stated today in a media release. “It’s a simple process that all they have to do when they see a concern, is click on this app and complete the questions that will relay the details to us. Our staff will be notified and begin working on the solution.”
Joplin News First tried it out. We saw a streetlight out on West 7th street. Downloaded the app, registered and provided a photo. It’s actually been read by an official and we’ll see what happens. Pretty cool!
For those who aren’t as APP savvy there is the website that can be accessed on a desktop in the same way. That link is below.
From what we gather you don’t have to be a citizen of Joplin to bring up a concern. If you are a daily driver through Joplin and notice a pothole at 4th street train crossing (we all remember that one right?) then you can register that pothole too.
“This engages our residents, so they have a voice in building a better community,” Anselm continues, “This partnership not only allows citizens to report problems, but also to view, comment on, and vote to fix problems submitted by their neighbors. Citizens can even create their own ‘watch areas’ to receive notifications about all the issues reported in their community, enabling them to follow the progress of all service requests, not just the ones they report.”
