Jeep flips taking down power lines and pole just before 5:00 rush

Local News

No reported injuries, the man was the only occupant of the vehicle.

(MAIDEN LANE & PERKINS) — About 4:30 Wednesday afternoon Joplin Police Department tell us ‘several people called in a possible impaired driver.’ In fact one of those that called police was a person on staff at our tv station. Many thought it was a police pursuit. It was not. Following along behind the Jeep was a black charger, an older gentlemen, just a concerned citizen who had called police regarding the dangerous driver.

The Jeep Cherokee crashed and flipped before officers arrived on north Maiden Lane and Perkins. It took down a pole holding power lines that had to be replaced.

The 20-year-old male driver was arrested for DWI.

We did not inquire how far across town the man had traveled. We picked up stories of the driver beginning at 7th and Maiden Lane as he then traveled north to where the crash occurred. Excessive speeds according to witnesses and darting in and out of traffic. #JoplinNewsFirst #KODE12. #KSN16
