“I saw it roll about 5 times,” one eyewitness told us before the Mercy helicopter arrived

Monday afternoon a little after 4:00 PM Joplin News First tipsters let us know about a rollover single-vehicle crash at MO-43 and Redbud Rd in the Oronogo area.

“I saw the car roll about five times,” our tipster told us. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries and was flown via air ambulance from the scene according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. 

According to Cpl J.L. Prewitt the crash occurred around 4:15 PM as 28 yr old, Derek Ramsey of Belton, Mo, was operating a 2006 Toyota Scion.

The vehicle was traveling north on MO-43 approximately 8 miles north of Joplin and ran off the roadway, striking a ditch and overturning.

A passenger in that vehicle, according to radio traffic was ejected and requiring Mercy air ambulance transport to Mercy Hospital. As of last check, 58 yr old, Melinda Ramsey of Belton, Mo, was listed in serious condition at Mercy Joplin.

The driver was transported via ambulance with minor injuries.
