(Springfield MO | 65802) — In a story Joplin News First was following all evening. What was at once a rescue operation became a recovery mission in Fair Grove, which is rural Greene County.
We are outside the Springfield offices of Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott where a press conference was held moments ago with the tragic news (video: KOLR 10/Nexstar).

On September 7, 2018, Deputy Aaron Paul Roberts cleared a 911 call in the 9500 block of Farm Road 2. He was returning to service and moments later radioed that his car was washed off of the road.
Several agencies assisted in rescue efforts. A short time later, Deputy Roberts was found near his patrol car deceased.

December 7, 1982 – September 7, 2018
Deputy Roberts was destined to be a public servant, serving his country from the heartland of America as an officer. His heritage was an Army family traveling the world while his dad, Darrell served at home and abroad. Deputy Roberts was born in Louisiana and spent some time in Germany as a child.
In 1994 the family settled in Springfield where he graduated Central High school in 2001. He attended the Drury University Missouri POST 740-hour Academy and graduated first in his class.
He came to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department in 2017 from Willard, MO where he served on the force there for nearly 4 years.
He had been with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for about a year and he died serving the public as he always did, a daily hero (source in part: City of Willard, April 2017).
