(64804) — Joplin is finally going to have a VA Clinic for our veterans. The construction begins today on the VA Joplin Community Outpatient Clinic at 3015 S Connecticut Ave. This clinic will offer veterans of the region: primary care, radiology, mental health treatment, labs and audiology services.
The clinic will serve 7,000-9,000 area veterans. This 24,000 square foot build-out is tentatively scheduled for a late summer 2018 opening. “We look forward to opening this facility to serve those who have already given so much,” Joplin Mayor Mike Seibert told the crowd gathered.
This new Joplin clinic is being built at the same time as a new Springfield clinic. By locating clinics in Joplin and Springfield this meets the VA mandate to create access within a 30-minute drive for veterans to receive healthcare. Additionally the Gene Taylor VA Outpatient Clinic in Mt. Vernon will close when these two clinics are open.
