JOPLIN, Mo. — Crews are tearing down a building in downtown Joplin to make way for a new County Courts building. The demolition project is getting rid of former attorneys’ offices at 6th and Pearl.
The county bought the property on the southwest corner of the intersection as part of the plan to replace the Courts building across the street.
Several other nearby buildings have been torn down, including former First Baptist Church one block down.
Construction work on the new building is expected to begin in about a month.
