The FBI and Newton County Sheriff’s Office continue their investigation regarding the missing person case of Sarah Burton.

Around 10:00 AM this morning a bevy of Missouri State Highway Patrol vehicles rolled into this neighborhood just off West 32nd. Joplin News First tipsters shot us photos. See our photo gallery of images.

Newton County Sheriff Chris Jennings confirmed though it was not an ambulance, it was the MSHP dive team vehicle that carries their special equipment.

At this time, the dive team is searching the pond in front of the large home located at 1174 Crane Drive in Newton County.

BEGAN ON TUESDAY  The Newton County Sheriff’s Office, with support from Joplin Police Department SWAT, served a drug search warrant at the home on Tuesday afternoon, just north of the Gates of Hell, Spook Trail.

It’s important to note that there were no drugs found on Tuesday and there were no arrests. “The current residents were very cooperative,” Sheriff Jennings told us.

While on the property Joplin Police officers and detectives noticed items only known to them that would be related to the missing persons case of Sarah Burton.

With that knowledge Newton County then obtained another search warrant for the property to look for items related to the missing persons case.
