Breaking & Live! Explosions heard for miles

Local News

Triple R Recycling, 510 S Tyler, became a fully engulfed fire and then a series of explosions rocked the night.  It is located located across the street from the UPS shipping and sorting center.

As Joplin News First arrived Sgt Dan Haskins of the Joplin Police Department cautioned our reporter to stay a safe distance since there were some unknown chemicals inside the structure.  Just a few minutes later the huge explosions began.

Unconfirmed but it’s thought the explosions were aluminum powder igniting inside the building(s).  Aluminum powder is the fast-ignitiing powder used in most fireworks.  Intense and fast-burning.
