BREAKING: Authorities discover possible crime scene related to Sarah Burton

A drug search of a Newton County property has now led to a possible crime scene related to the missing persons case of Sarah Burton. 

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office’s, with support from Joplin Police Department SWAT and other agencies, served a drug search warrant at 1174 Crane Drive in Newton County on Tuesday afternoon.

While assisting in the execution of that warrant, Captain Trevor Duncan said it has become a possible crime scene related to the missing persons case of Sarah Burton. 

“Newton County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are continuing an investigation at that residence. We are in direct communication with them and have been as in pertaining to our missing persons case with Sarah Burton,” said Captain Trevor Duncan, Joplin Police Department.

Joplin News First broke the story Tuesday about the Newton Co Sheriff’s Office drug search warrant just North of the Gates of Hell and it now has developed into a possible crime scene location related to the missing Sarah Burton. — Shannon Becker broke the story FIRST TODAY (Wednesday) — Joplin Police tell us exclusively while assisting in the execution of that drug warrant yesterday, possible evidence was found that could be related to Burton’s case. The Sheriff of Newton County would not comment on what they found, but says with the other law enforcement agencies, they are looking dilligently into the possible lead. “Nothing concrete yet obviously. Some of the information Joplin had received seemed to check out with the location, so the FBI crime unit has been checking for evidence at the scene.
