The 2nd Annual Mardi-Bra Brunch fundraiser brings women together to support fellow females in their community.
A group of volunteers started to gather new bra’s and underwear, after noticing that they were the least donated items for women in need.
Dozens of bra’s were also donated before and during Saturday’s event.
They’ll be kept at the Family Resource Center, where girls in the USD250 School District, Wesley House, or Safe House Crisis Center can request them.
“We know that for breast health, and dignity and comfort, a well-fitting bra is important. So we just felt that this was a nice way to have a great event where women can get together and bring a bra,” says event organizer Dawn McNay.
After last year’s event, they realized a greater need for sports bra’s for girls in middle and high school.
So this year there was a big push for those kind of bra’s, as well as mastectomy and breast-feeding bras.
