Local band throws breakfast fundraiser

Local Shriners dish up pancakes to help bring their music to the midwest.

The Joplin Shrine Club’s Oriental Band held it’s Annual Pancake Feed Saturday morning.

The band travels all around the midwest to be a part of parades and represent their international fraternity of brotherhood.

Resident’s enjoyed breakfast cooked by the band members themselves, and donated funds to help with their travel expenses.

“Well we’re an oriental band so we don’t have a lot of talent, but we have a few muscians that do a pretty good job and we make it to all the parades in the area,” says Shrine Band Member Dave Hall.

The Joplin Shrine Oriental Band’s next stop is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Springfield.

They’ll also play during the Joplin ROTC 100 year celebration.
