Liberty Utilities raises $150k for the United Way Campaign

Liberty Utilities is celebrating its achievement of raising almost $150 thousand dollars for the United Way Campaign.

The company has spent the past several months raising the money as a team to benefit the organization. Two campaign chairs coordinated captains in 46 facilities across the region to raise the funds. Company officials as well as community members united at the Riverton power station in honor of this special day. United Way gives back to those in need in Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas annually.

“These dollars mean a lot to individuals and families we have initiatives for education, we are trying to have our kids have literacy. Third grade reading is a huge issues in our state and in our area,” says Debbi Meeds, United Way.

“Our over 900 employes in Liberty Utility Central have a commitment to make our communities better fits in with our overall company directives and objectives,” says Blake Mertens, Liberty Utilities, Central Vice President of Operations Electric.

Throughout the rest of the year Liberty Utilities is hoping to expand its campaign by offering more fundraisers throughout the entire year.
