An local utility company is doing its part to help attract bees and butterflies to an area park.
As part of Missouri Pollinator Week, employees of Liberty Utilities Empire District planted a garden designed for pollinators inside the company’s arboretum in Landreth Park. Vegetation manager Jason Grossman says it’s part of the WOW Program which stands for wires over wildlife, which is a partnership between Liberty and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
“Pollinators are in decline right now so it’s very important to increase their habitat and Liberty is showing their commitment to environmental stewardship by planting flowers and attractors along the right of way,” says Jason Grossman.
Grossman says the company is committed to recycling as well, by using old telephone polls as landscaping logs.
