Missouri legislators say one of the next items on their agenda is tackling the states multi-billion dollar budget for next year.

Over the next few weeks, the Missouri House and Senate will be working to come up with a series of bills making up the budget to send to the governor’s desk. State Representative Bill White says the budget is one of the biggest items the legislature works on every year. He says with both the Senate and the House each coming up with different versions, the best approach is to wait and see what areas need to be worked out.

“Somebody over there can really just draw a line in the sand, and we’ll see, you know, if it’s worth fighting over, and if it is, you know, how far we go and who wins,” White says.

The budget would go into effect on July 1. The current state budget checks in at just under$28 billion.
