Lawrence county commissioners announce more funding for public safety.

In their 2019 budget, commissioners are proposing more money for staffing in the sheriff and prosecutor’s offices, along with funding for Sheriff Brad Delay to upgrade patrol vehicles, and new funding for upgrades to software and surveillance at the county jail.

Commissioners say along with that, they’re also looking at options for overcrowding at the jail. They say the county will spend roughly $400 thousand dollars of the one-point five million dollar law enforcement sales tax fund to house prisoners in other facilities.
