Lawrence county commissioners release more information related to a question on next month’s ballot.
On April 2, Lawrence county voters will be asked to decide the fate of a one-half cent sales tax for central dispatch agency for the county. Commissioners estimate that if passed the tax could generate approximately $1.5 million a year. Commissioners say if the question is approved, they would appoint the initial members of a board to administer the funds and oversee the provisions of emergency services in the county. That board would be made of seven members, representing the fire protection and ambulance districts, the sheriff’s office, municipalities in the county and other emergency services and the general public.
